Regarded as the greatest pitcher to play
in the Mexican League, Arano won 334 games over his 30 year career.
His stats increase to a W-L record of 421-350 when including the
winter league, which would rank him 2nd all time in wins behind
Cy Young. He retired
in 1986 but came back nine years later to pitch five games for Aguila
at the age of 56, which included a complete game shutout to make
him the oldest pitcher in the Mexican League to achieve that feat.
Arano was inducted into Mexico's Hall of Fame in 1993.
