The best hitter in Japan from 1959-81, Harimoto
won seven batting championships. Over his 23 year career, he had
3,085 hits and a .319 lifetime batting average. The left fielder
had the misfortune of playing for the mediocre Toei Flyers for most
of his career, but the Flyers did win the Japan Series title in
1962, and Harimoto was with the Yomiuri Giants when they won the
Central League titles in 1976 and 1977. |
