Known as the "Pride of Havana,"
Luque pitched year round for 20 years, with a 93-62 won-loss record
in the Cuban League. He also won 194 games while losing 179 in the
U.S. major leaguess. In 1923 the curveball artist won 27 games for
the Cincinnati Reds with six shutouts and an ERA of 1.93. He was
inducted into the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1958.
