Regarded as one of the three best pitchers
in Cuban League history, Pedroso had an excellent fastball and good
control. He led the league in victories twice with at least 11 wins
in 1913 and at least 10 in 1914-15 (statistics are incomplete).
He also led the league in batting in 1915-16 with a .413 average;
he played first base, catcher, and outfield when not on the mound..
In 1909 he made headlines when he tossed an 11 inning no-hitter
against the American League Detroit
Tigers and winning 1-0. Besides pitching 20 years in the Cuban
League, Pedroso also pitched 21 years in the Negro Leagues, primarily
with the Cuban Stars. He was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall
of Fame in 1962.
