Non-conforming, beer loving flamboyant star of the Chicago White Stockings (Cubs) from 1880-86, Michael Joseph Kelly led the National League in most offensive categories while helping the White Stockings win five league championships. He is credited with popularizing the hit and run play and was a notorious base-stealer. He is the subject of the popular song "Slide Kelly Slide."
