2896 games, 268 home runs, .267 batting average
Robinson's unbelievable MVP performance against the Cincinnati Reds in the 1970 World Series earned him the nickname "Hoover" (as in vacuum cleaners) firmly established his reputation as the finest defensive third baseman in history. He shares (with Jim Kaat) the record of winning 16 Golden Gloves, and holds 10 major league fielding records and 3 American League records for third basemen, including highest lifetime fielding percentage (.971). The 1964 AL Most Valuable Player was named to 18 All-Star teams over his 23 year Oriole career. |
