Often overshadowed by Oscar
Charleston and Cool Papa Bell,
Stearnes is one of the greatest center fielders to ever play baseball
and also ranked near the top of the league in stolen bases yearly.
His hitting prowess is remarkable, as he averaged .352 over his
career and averaged 33 doukbles, 18 triples, and 30 home runs
a year. He led the Negro Leagues in home runs in seven of his
14 years. |
