St. Louis Cardinals

All Time Catcher

Ted Simmons

Ted Simmons

1968 - 1988

When MLB went about selecting its All Century Team, The Sporting News (long time based in St. Louis) selected an all time St. Louis Cardinals team--one that would give the all time MLB team a good contest.

Six time National League All Star, Ted Simmons became the Redbirds top catcher in 1971. He batted over .300 six times over a ten year period with the Cardinals and set seasonal team hitting records for catchers with 26 home runs in 1979 and 96 RBI in 1972.
